Chris Morgan has been working in Jordan since 2000 as a Mining and Energy Consultant to the Governments’ Natural Resources Authority and is currently Managing Director of Jordan Energy and Mining Ltd. (JEML) JEML is a UK company set up in 2006 to develop the extensive high grade oil shale resources of Jordan. This will involve stripping of waste material, mining, sizing and retorting the oil shale at 500 degrees C to produce a range of liquid petroleum products including diesel, gasoline, naphtha and kerosene for sale in the domestic or international markets.
Chris has over 40 years' experience in the mining, energy and environmental sectors formerly with Billiton International Metals (previously the metals arm of Shell) where he was involved in the operation and management of large open pit mining and processing operations in South America, Africa and latterly Central Asia with Western Mining Corporation.
Chris incorporated a consultancy group specialising in the natural resources and energy sectors in 1999. This led to advisory work in Jordan and ultimately to the formation of Jordan Energy and Mining.
Chris is a Chartered Engineer, a Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining and holds an Honours degree in Mining Engineering and a Master's in Mineral Production Management from the Royal School of Mines, Imperial College, London
