Chris is an ecologist with over 30 years’ practical experience in conservation and protected area management and in the institutional development of environmental organizations. For over 20 years he worked in Jordan for the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature as Conservation Director and CEO of Wild Jordan and he supervised many internationally funded projects in nature-based economic development, especially eco-tourism. In 2006, he was awarded an MBE by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II for his services to nature conservation in Jordan and in 2010 he received the Guardian and Observer Ethical Travel Award for his work in tourism development.
